Materials

We can break with the paradigm that scientific experiments are really expensive. Because that isn’t true. First of all is the battery that give us the electrical energy we need for our experiment. Additionally we need copper wire, but it must be insulated and must have the ends stripped. Wires will serve to conduct electricity. We need iron nail, the larger, the better it will be for the experiment. And finally we will use staples, or also called small paper clips so you can look how electromagnets work.

Procedure

You should be asking how we can make something that seem so difficult with these basic materials.. Well, as the materials, the steps are also really simple to follow. First of all is important that as you are working with electricity, you must be with your parent and have a lot of care. Secondly, with the end stripped wire you must wrap it all around the large iron nail. In third place, as the cable is large enough, you must take both ends and place them one in the positive, and the other in the negative pole of the battery. The important thing to remember is to always connect the wire in the same direction, if not the experiment could be destroyed. Furthermore, as you tight the wire really well, as soon as you place the clips, you must start seeing at electromagnetism at home!

Explanation

The goal of this experiment is that you question why does all of this happen, and what is really happening. In fact, when we talk about electromagnetism, it is a force that basically makes possible the interaction of electrical conductors and uncharged magnetic force fields. And also make possible the interaction with electrically charged particles. In the experiment we see it because there’s a source of electrons (the battery) and the wire makes the electrons flow. The circuit is complete once the electrons flow, if not It isn’t. But where’s the magnet we made? Those electrons are behaving like magnets because -while flowing- they are creating magnetic fields. As a result, turns the nail into the magnet, picking up the clips we placed.

Many mysteries in science are inexplicable, but this one can be explained. In fact, is strange to believe that this scientist -that escaped from Germany because he don’t wanted to presence Nazi’s war- was the creator of the worst weapon that ever existed: the atomic bomb. The question is why he made it then?

History of the equation

Was in 1933 that Hitler came to power, into a really developed nation were science was really strong. With its weapons they were able to Leó Szilárd, a physicist friend of Einstein was scared because while he made his studies in Germany he saw that Hitler could use this equation for making a bomb. Later other contributions on this formula were relevant worldwide like radioactivity in medicine, new inventions into machinery, nuclear fission (with neutrons). Einstein was always against the use of atomic bombs . He even wrote a public declaration to the greatest leaders to stop war

Meant life

Many problems that faced science were explained because of this equation. Scientists, through many calculations, stated that millions of years ago sun must have ended but surprisingly it is still there. In the other hand, Einstein’s studies showed that the thing that gave the sun energy was its own mass that constantly is changing into energy by several reactions in the nucleus. Additionally, he broke with the paradigm that energy and mass were completely different showing that are different atoms of the same thing. Finally, it meant life, it meant creation the origin of everything, because we know that is possible that energy is condensed again into mass. That happened in the Big Bang, the origin of the universe. We exist because of what that formula explains.

Meant death

This equation was in charge and the responsible of the future of humanity, which was in hands of the science. Einstein worried about the impact of this weapon in society. He knew really well that a large mass of uranium represented huge destruction. And even if Albert Einstein wrote a letter to president Roosevelt, in 1945 bombs were launched causing deaths, destruction of 80% of the buildings and illnesses in Hiroshima. Definitely weapons killed people, but atomic bomb killed whole cities. The future of civilization was in danger.

This is an important aspect for physics, because we need to know different materials in order to construct new things or understand the color of the universe. So with the help of your parents or science teachers and a safe place,  you can follow this steps:

First you must clean the wire for making the tests. And how do you clean it? Well, your parents will dip them into hydrochloric acid, and burn it. When the flame has not any color, then you start making tests. Then you must start making flame tests, write your observations in a chart. So dip the flame test loop in the number of test solutions you want. Now, clean once again the wire.

First of all I will shoe you a NASA’s goal in astrophysics: “Discover how the universe works, explore how the universe began and developed into its present form, and search for Earth-like planets.” And you may ask, how is it that they reach that goal? In fact, they have three questions:
1. How does the universe work? having to do with energy, time and space.
2. How did we get here? Showing the origin and evolution of the stars and planets.
3. Are we alone? Studying other planets, their starts and looking if they harbor life.

What they really want to know is the creation of the universe linked with the history of galaxies. They are learning about its characteristics, and a life we can develop in different planets.

Astrophysics is a branch of astronomy that has to do with physics of the whole universe, the properties of celestial objects and their behavior. If you want to study stars, planets, and galaxies when you grow up then is astrophysics what you must study! PR
